Im Back!!!

Hi everyone so first off i would like to apologize for the large gap since my last post. I decided to take a few months off from blogging whilst i completed my final year exams and got my life, put together shall we say. The past few months have been absolutely crazy, so i finally graduated from The University of Central Lancashire with honors in Forensic Psychology. It has been an absolutely crazy three years, i have loved every minuet of it, even all the stress that came with final year exams and getting my dissertation sorted. Im currently about to finish a small project i have been working on with my final year tutor, as a piece to run alongside my dissertation, which is currently in the throws of being published!!!! This other piece of work will also have my name on so hopefully this time next year i will have two pieces of work published for all the fresh new psychology students to use as they please.
I am jetting off to Magalluf with my mum in the morning, which is a little crazy because my first experience of maga is going to be with my mum. I love her to bits so thats fine :D.
I also only have 46 more days left in the UK as i am flying out to Melbourne, Australia on the 10th of November for up to a year!!!! To get some work experience as a psychologist, before i go on to study for my masters. I decided to take a year out of education, rather than going straight back into studying after a very trying 10 years of upper education. Its crazy to believe that 10 years ago i was a terrified year 7, in a completely new town with no friends, scared to the bones for what was to come. Since then i have met some amazing people (granted most of them at University). My best friends Rach and Ceri have been my absolute guardian angels. The people i have met at university i know will be friends for life.
I was also asked to be a godmother to my gorgeous niece Maisey lou who i have grown very attached to. I love her to bits.
Needless to say it has been a busy few months, here are a few pics from my graduation and the christening, my grandparents flew in from spain for my graduation which was a lovely surprise. Its been a bit more of a catch up blog post than a fashion or beauty one. I hope you all like it.

Wayy too long!!

Heyy guys so its been far too long since my last blog. Im super hectic at the moment with all of my uni work. I have also just started a new job at Simon Dunn Chocolatier in Preston. If any of you guys are in Preston you should pop in and have a coffee or hot chocolate. We use homemade belgian chocolate and its amazing!!!! Try our White chocolate Mocha and hot choccy. Its so yummy :D. I will be working Wednesdays and saturdays if any of you guys want to pop in have a drink and do a review that would be amazing :D.
Any way, im currently writing this blog at 2:21 in the morning, this is the only time i have been free today... like i said im so busy at the moment.
Because of all of my work i havent really been wearing anything too exciting, i took these pictures the other day before i managed to leave my room for a work break into town.

Purple vintage silk dress- Retro Rehab

This was another little gem i found in Retro rehab, i absolutely love this dress. I managed to pick it up in the sale for £12 which i think is a bargain for a vintage dress. I love how this fits, its so comfortable and surprisingly warm. I usually team this dress with my gold studded pumps from Topshop and me black liquorice bow bag from ASOS. I have my eye on a beautiful pair of courts from ASOS im just waiting to have a little bit more money. They will look absolutely beautiful with this dress.
Personally i think vintage shops are amazing for one off pieces at least you can walk away knowing you will be the only person wearing it. :D
Have a lovely what is now Tuesday

Acid wash super skinny jeans

Ive been looking for a new pair of jeans for a while and i have to say the pickings have been quite terrible lately. My beloved black skinny jeans from ASOS finally gave way the other month. It was a devastating blow to my wardrobe to say the least. Ever since i have been on the lookout for a new pair of dark jeans, when i came across these beauties in Miss Selfridge, they have to be the comfiest jeans i have ever bought. I love the skinny jeans from Miss Selfridge, i often find it difficult to find jeans, being so small, i always find they crumple at the ankles. When i saw these i knew i had to have them. I really like the acid wash/ stone wash jeans that are around lately, especially the ones like these. I hate rolling up jeans at the bottom because you get that awful look where the inside of the jeans are on show. These dont have that, the material on the inside is black so when you roll them at the bottom you get that lovely effect from the acid wash to a block colour. I picked these up for £34 i think they were with student discount. I absolutely love them, they are so soft and comfy, especially for super skinny jeans, its like wearing leggings.
Ive teamed these today with a simple long sleeved black top from primark and my maroon converse.
Have a lovely wednesday

Crewy's Boutique

Hey everyone so as you read in my last post, i have been raving about handknitted jumpers that my nan has been making me. The other day i stumbled across this lovely little facebook page of someone who is selling their handknitted items at a very reasonable price, especially for handknitted items.
As i love one off home made items i thought id share this lovely little shop with all you guys out there who are the same as me.
Crewy's Boutique makes items for all people, adults and babies, hand knitted hats look so adorable on new born babies. After having a browse through some of the pictures on the page i knew i had to have something, as soon as i get paid i shall be purchasing many items.
Why not head over and have a look guys you might find that amazing one off jumper that you just cant find it stores. Its true now clothes just dont have the quality they use to anymore, because of all these factories that make as many clothes as possible for as cheap as possible to make the highest profits. You really cant beat handmade items even right down to ornaments.
Crewy's Items all come in this absolutely adorable packaging with a care label attached so no fear you will know just how to wash your items.
You dont get those lovely personal finishing touches in River Island or Primark.
While its still wintery why not head on over and have a look at all new items for sale. I sure will be.

Here is the link to the facebook page.Crewy's boutique.
Have a lovely thursday guys

Hand knitted jumpers and lip tint!!

Hey everyone, i haven't yet shown you all my lovely collection of hand Knitted jumpers i have, made by my lovely nan.
The one i am wearing today is the most recent one she made me, im forever complaining that i am cold so my lovely nan kindly knits me some jumpers. I have two blacks ones and a oversized cable knit mustard colour one (i will get a picture of me in them at some point for you all). She is currently working on another master piece for me so as soon as that is finished i will show you all :).
I love hand-knitted jumpers they are so warm and unique, there is nothing more that i hate than when i buy something and see about a million people wearing that same thing. Another reason why i love vintage shops, they are all one off as well.

Chaki skinny jeans- Miss Selfridge

Gold mini casio- ASOS.... set of three bracelets- Primark.
I usually team this jumper with simple accessories, i never wear a necklace with this because of the neck line, with it being quite high i dont think any neck accessories look right with it, i really want to get a collar for it, when i find the right one it will have to be bought. The great thing about this jumper is it can be teamed with any style of pant you want, i didn't want to be in all dark colours today so i went for my carki skinny jeans from Miss Selfridge, they are quite old now but i love them all the same.

I also thought id show you all the lip tint i bought today from Superdrug, i have always been more of a lip gloss kind of girl than lipstick, i find with lipgloss it can get sticky and is horrendous to wear on a windy day. Today i thought id give a lip tint a try, and the verdict....I love it!!!, i have never been one for dark coloured lips but i love this colour, it is perfect for me, it doesn't come off when i eat or drink and i dont have to worry about that annoying sticky feeling most lip-glosses give. The one i am using is the Maxfactor lipfinity lasting lip tint, in shade 01. I think this is a great product, coming in at an affordable £6.99.
I took a close up image of the colour on my lips with the product so you can all get an idea. Im quite a pale person so deep pinks and reds can make me look even more pale but this one doesn't. I love it!!
Have a great Friday

OOTD!

Hey everyone so once again today its absolutely freezing, so i went more for alot of warmth today. I've not done an OOTD for a while so i thought id show you the latest bargain i have picked up.

Oversized vintage jumper- Retro Rehab... Cupcake print high waisted shorts- Topshop.
Please excuse the quality of these pictures i don't have enough money at the moment to buy and new camera so i have had to resort to using my webcam (can't wait for that new camera when ever i do get one)
Anyway as from previous posts you know i have found a lovely vintage shop in Preston called Retro Rehab, i absolutely love this shop, its my new place to go over topshop!!! I never thought id see the day. I picked this reworked vintage beauty up for £6!!!1 can you believe it £6 for a jumper. Its oversized on me which i love, im very into my over sized everything at the moment. I teamed this today with my high waisted shorts from topshop and some extra thick black tights. I love this jumper so much mainly because of its baby pink colour (i looooveee pink). As you can see from the top picture i have another top underneath this, its just a plain long sleeved top from Miss Selfridge just to add that extra bit of warmth. The collar on this is a turtle neck one but i usually roll it down to make a rounded neck, unless im feeling particularly cold.
I haven't really accessorised this much as it has quite a fussy pattern on the front so i didnt want to take away the attention from the pattern, im just wearing my simple heart necklace from Tiffanys.
What is your opinion on vintage clothing love or hate?
Have a lovely Thursday

Marc B and Asos competition.

Hey everyone so there is a competition on the E-Retail PR bloggers website. There is a chance to win £75 voucher to spend at Marc B and £175 voucher to spend on ASOS. Here is my ASOS outfit i chose to style with one of the new season Marc B handbags.

Here is the link to the new season Mark B handbags http://bit.ly/W2WIcU

This is the Giselle Black Tote by Marc B. I have chosen this bag as i love structured bags at the moment, i think they add that classy look to all outfits. This type of bag is perfect for a student like me, so much room inside with lovely structured walls to protect all of your worldly items.
I have chosen a few items off ASOS that i think would look great with this bag.

So this is the outfit i put together to go with the Marc B bag above. I absolutely love Vivienne Westwood so as soon as i saw this gold bracelet and necklace set i knew they would be amazing accessories for this bag. They are simple yet effective, with the Vivienne Westwood emblem on them i think they are perfect for accessorizing this bag. The ASOS midi dress with full skirt and belt is the perfect day to night outfit (well in my opinion), its high neck line and classy hemline are perfect for going to work, Uni, College or just for a trip in to town. I love the classic look of this dress (just like the classic look of the tote bag), this style of dress doesn't call for your casual flat ballet pumps or your super high stillettos, the ASOS proxy pointed toe high heels with toe cap on the front will give the perfect amount of height to flatter your figure in this dress, without the added pain of high heels. When you view the dress ASOS already have the shoes in a link next to it (easy shopping). I had a browse to see if there were any other ones i thought would look great but nothing could cut it once i had seen these little nude beauties. I have finished this look off with the Vivienne Westwood accesories i mentioned above, along with the ASOS stone flower earring. There were matching earrings to the Vivienne set above but i thought these would finish off the whole look by adding just the little splash of colour.
I hope you all enjoyed this outfit. Get entering the competition. Good luck.
For more information about the competition and how to enter it follow this link http://etailpr.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/win-75-to-spend-at-marc-b-175-to-spend.html

Pink Satin headband and Nike hightops

So i've finally managed to take a picture of my new Nike high tops i told you all about some number of weeks ago.
As soon as i saw these shoes i knew i had to have them, the latest craze at the moment appears to be the new Nike Blazes (i'm sure you have all seen them or may own some yourself). I do love the Blazes however i don't like to have something that 'everyone' has, so naturally when i saw these all white beauties i thought they were the perfect high tops to own.

Sorry about the poor quality image i had to take this on my webcam( not the best situation... i desperately need a new camera). Anyway i picked these up from footlocker for £45!!!! because they are in the children's section so as a heads up if you are a size 5 or less go to the kids section they are a lot cheaper.
I often wear these with an oversized jumper and/or jeans and leggings. Team these with some cute frill edged socks and you have a recipe for cuteness. I usually wear these with my frill edged ankle socks from Topshop. Being quite challenged in the height department, these are perfect as they are slightly platformed giving me that little extra height without wearing heels all day.
Pink satin wired headband- Ebay..... Gold cross ear cuff- Primark.. Pink oversized jumper-Retro Rehab

Moving on from trainers, i am loving the wired headbands that are around at the moment, i have a couple that i have picked up from various shops, as you all know from previous posts i often wear a piece of ribbon in my hair too. When i found this gorgeous sating wired headband on ebay for £3.00 i couldn't resist. I love these styles of headbands i think they add that extra little bit of something to an everyday outfit. Today i was having a really bad hair day so i went for the good old saving grace of sticking it up in a bun. These styles of headbands look so cute especially with hair like this.
I picked up the ear cuff and chain from Primark for a very lovely £1.00 which is fine by me, i absolutely love these chains they are the perfect accessory for any outfit. I think its so refreshing to have something other than your generic studs, hoops and waterfall earrings.
Hope you all love my hightops and headband as much as i do.
Have a lovely Monday

Make up haul

Hey guys another long gap in between posts, im so sorry, i have been so busy lately with my third year of university and trying to sort out my masters applications, a job and volunteer work. I hope you are all keeping warm in this extremely cold winter.
I thought today i would share with you some of my new make up. As you all know i have very sensitive skin and can struggle with all products that come into contact with it. I use to be a huge fan of maybelline dream satin foundation, however recently my skin has been having a reaction to it. So i thought i would try one from The Body Shop as it is all natural ingredients however i found there was only a small range of colours to choose from, even using the palest colour they had it wasnt a very good match. I have very pale skin, especially on my face as i dont fake tan my face (it makes me look dirty). This foundation ended up making me look extremely orange... even with a light powder over the top of it.
Naturally i immediately went to Debenhams to the Clarins counter where i was met with an absolutely amazing standard of service. The sales assistant listened to the problems i was facing, sat me down and knew exactly which colour and type of foundation would match my skin type and tone.
She suggested i used the everlasting foundation in wheat. I have to say i have loved this product since to moment it touched my skin. It has a very light feel to it yet gives a complete coverage. It does come at a price of £24 which is quite pricey for just a foundation but its definately worth it if you struggle like i do. Our faces are so delicate we must look after them girls. Ive also found with this product there is no need for reapplication throughout the day, with the maybelline dream satin liquid i found i often had to reapply within a few hours.
The clarins foundation smells absolutely divine. I would recommend for anyone even if you dont have any skin troubles.

I also decided i needed a new face powder. I love the mac pressed powder but i am struggling to find it anywhere in preston. I have tried other face powders such as the Rimmel stay matte pressed powder and the body shops own one. Again i have to say i have not been a fan, i struggled to find a colour to match in both the products and i also found once on it made my skin feel dried out.
I like to use a face powder just to set my foundation, with the Clarins foundation you dont really need a powder as it has a matt finish, but i just like to use one to get that finished look and feel. I have also found my makeup stays on alot better when i use a face powder.
Anyway so i went into superdrug to have a look to find a 'next best' powder to the Mac one, i came across the Max factor creme puff. I have to say after the first application i fell in love with this product. I managed to find the perfect match to my foundation and skin tone, it doesnt dry my skin out and leaves a beautiful looking complexion (along with being another product that smells divine). It also comes at a nice price of £5.99.

I thought id try the maybelline Rocket volume mascara simply because it was on offer (why not!!). I do like this product it gives a great look to your eyelashes with no clumps or stickiness. I dont know about you guys but lately ive found mascaras are getting sticky. This was on offer at £4.99.

Lastly (sorry about the long post) i have this bobby brown travel brush set. Im not sure how much this was as it was my mums, she had no use for it so it thought why not. This is a great little set and comes in a neat travel case. It includes a contour brush (perfect for creating those cheekbones and shadowing), a powder brush, eyeliner and lip brush, eyebrow styler, two eyeshadow applicators and a smudge brush. This is perfect to stick in your handbag if you have to travel or like me you dont have alot of space in your room for a whole draw of different brushes. This set feels amazing on your skin and makes applying your makeup stress free. I dont know what i would do without it now, my previous brushes were only cheap and like cheap brushes do they shed alot. This set has absolutely no shedding.

So there you go guys i hope this was helpful to some of you out there. Sorry it was so long.
Have a lovely day,
Kirsty

Velvet!!!

Hey everyone, so i am super excited that velvet is coming back in to fashion. I love everything about it, how it looks, how it feels.. everything. Ive always had a love for velvet but could never find anything that goes with the current fashions that are around today. I found alot of the older style velvet could look quite frumpy, although i am not impartial to a bit of vintage. Anyways i was wandering the shops just before christmas and i stumbled upon this little beauty.
Gold cross ear chain cuff...New look, Heart necklace... Tiffany & co.
I found this lovely little number in Miss Selfridge i absolutely love it. I wore it on christmas day and it made a lovely christmasy outfit. I think dresses like this are perfect and worth every penny. Ive wore this dress for general day to day pottering around, christmas day, and on a night out. Its amazingly warm which is always a plus when on a night out in the winter. When wearing this in the day ive usually teamed it with my flat gold studded ballet shoes from topshop, this would also look beautiful with a pair of chelsea boots.

What do you guys think of velvet?

Body shop and No7!!

Hey everyone so i thought id show you some of the amazing gifts i got for christmas. I have really sensitive skin so i have to be very careful with the types of products i use. When i can afford to i often use the body shop range of products because they use only natural products and are perfect for people with skin like mine.
For christmas i was bought a hamper that had a load of goodies from The body shop in it. As you can see here ive separated the two smells to give you guys an idea. These are a great gift idea, this hamper cost like £40 and has around £60-£70 worth of stuff in it, as a heads up for next year :).

As you can see the two main smells in this hamper are coconut and strawberry, i have to say they are both beautiful. I got two body butters which are perfect for people with dry skin as they leave you feeling moisturised all day, ive found with cheaper body butters i have to re-apply it every 4-5 hours which is a major inconvenience. They also smell amazing, i dont think there's a single one i dont like from the body shop. In this hamper i also got two different types of exfoliator, the coconut one is alot more corse than the strawberry one, i generally use this once a week before i tan, again people with dry skin it is good to exfoliate once a week just to remove some of the dryness. The body polish i one i would use around half way through the week just as a light top up on the main exfoliation, you dont want to exfoliate too much or you will create sore skin.
The coconut shower cream is perfect to use in-conjunction with the corse exfoliator as this acts as a moisturiser. It feel amazing on your skin and leaves a great base for applying the body butter and fake tan (just make sure you dont fake tan straight away).
I use the strawberry shower gel when i want the smell of strawberries to last through the day, finish it off with the strawberry body butter and you smell amazing all day, this is a nice little touch when going on a night out.

This No7 foaming shower oil is what my nan got me as part of my christmas present (along with an amazing hand knitted jumper). I was a little unsure of this when i first opened it as it comes out the same consistency as a body oil. I later found out that it turns into a shower gel like substance and leaves your skin feeling so soft and supple. Again this is absolutely perfect for people with sensitive skin or any skin complaints. It is hypoallergenic and smells beautiful. (I dont know if you have picked up by now but i love amazing smelling body butter and shower gel). I tend to use this once a week teamed with the corse exfoliator, shower cream and body butter. Ive found over the past few weeks following this simple routine my skin has been alot less irritating, looks and feels alot smoother and smells gorgeous.
It seems like a lot of fuss when all you want is a shower but it is worth it, especially if you suffer from eczema, during the winter your skin can become very dry so its always good to look after it.

I hope this helps some of you guys out there who are like me :D.
Enjoy the snow.

OOTD!

Today has been another retro rehab day. Again i spent the day revising in my flat again so i didn't want to wear something too nice to sit around the house in. I popped in to town and couldn't resist buying the Nike air force high tops i blogged about in my shoe post.

Vintage Fur Collar- Retro rehab... Oversized peach jumper- Retro rehab... Blue skinny jeans- Miss selfridge.

The peach jumper was another gem i found in Retro rehab, its a similar style to the fuschia jumper i blogged about yesterday, i love this type of jumper, as i said yesterday they are amazingly cozy and warm, the perfect  way to spend a day revising.
The skinny jeans i am wearing i have had for almost two years now and they have been very loyal to me. Usually with jeans(especially skinny fit ones) they tend to fade or rip in some area. I have had no problems with these at all, they go with almost everything and are super comfy, for skinny jeans. There's nothing worse than feeling like you are being suffocated by your jeans, these do the complete opposite.
The vintage fur collar i styled with the jumper is detachable, these are very popular this season, you can wear them on almost everything and personally i think they are great for those freezing few winters months we have left to come.
The collar and jumper came at another bargain price of £20 all together. Absolutely amazing!!.
What do you guys think of detachable fur collars this season?

OOTD!!

Hey everyone so ive had a little change to my hair. Its is now short eeekkk, i knew it wouldn't last long though the good old extensions have had to be bought just for nights out of course. I love extensions they can make it so easy to have to different hairstyles.
Any way so this is my first outfit of the day for a very long time. Sorry about that, ive got quite a few new things so you will be seeing them over the next few weeks. Ive been all about the oversized jumpers this christmas. My nan knitted me the most amazing mustard colour cable knit jumper i love it so much. I think oversized jumpers, T-shirts, coats, cardigans are the best thing in the winter they look super cute and go with everything.
Today im not doing much apart from revision (snore fest) so i thought id go for something cosy, warm and still acceptable to wear outside just in case i get a bit of cabin fever.
I went shopping the other day and picked up a jumper from topshop, i wasn't 100% on it but bought it for the sake of it (as you do). I then found this lovely little vintage shop down one of the side streets in preston called Retro Rehab. As soon as i walked in a was like a child in a candy shop i had to try almost everything on, had i found this shop just after i had been paid i would have bought everything. Anyway there was a sale on and i managed to pick two jumpers up for £18 !!!! what an absolute bargain i couldn't believe it. Naturally i took the jumper i didn't really like back to topshop, i couldn't believe i had just got two jumpers for £18 and i bought one from topshop for £26. I will definitely be looking around the vintage shops first.
I have always had a guilty pleasure for vintage shops, you can find so many amazing one of things in there. I do love topshop but i often get annoyed when i buy something and see a million other people wearing it.
I teamed this oversized jumper with a peter pan collar top, which funnily enough i picked up from topshop :).
I love layering jumpers like these with different tops, they can change the whole look of an outfit so easily. Along with adding much needed warmth, thick black tights is a must with an outfit like this.

Pink oversized jumper- Retro Rehab..... Peter-Pan collar top- Topshop.

What winter favourites have you guys had these season?
